Mrs. Gladys Marie Dove Whittington, 93, of China Grove passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Big Elm Assisted Living in Kannapolis. Born on July 27, 1924, in Dillon County SC, she was the daughter of the late Wallie C. and Pearl Driver Dove. Mrs. Whittington was a member of Highest Praise Church of God in Landis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Andrew B. Whittington, and daughters Millie Anderson and Peggy Whittington. Mrs. Gladys Marie Dove Whittington, 93, of China Grove passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Big Elm Assisted Living in Kannapolis. Born on July 27, 1924, in Dillon County SC, she was the daughter of the late Wallie C. and Pearl Driver Dove. Mrs. Whittington was a member of Highest Praise Church of God in Landis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Andrew B. Whittington, and daughters Millie Anderson and Peggy Whittington. In addition, she was preceded by 2 grandchildren, 6 brothers; Onnie, Reuben, Virgil, W.C., Roger, and Leo Dove, and her sister, Maxie McIntyre. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Jim Whittington (Susan) of Wilmington, Ray Whittington (Glynda) of Greensboro, Larry Whittington of Hampstead, Joel Whittington (Tricia) of China Grove, and Paul Whittington of Greensboro, and her daughters; Marie Whittington of Concord, Judy Fonner of Greensboro, and Kay McLendon (Harry) of Concord. Also surviving her are her brother, Charles Dove of Huntsville Alabama, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, with funeral on Wednesday at 2:00 at Kannapolis Church of God, on West A.
