Mrs. Dorothy Jean Correll Lucas, 84 of Salisbury, passed away on July 27, 2017 at Novant Rowan Health Medical Center. Born April 6, 1933 in Rowan County she was educated in the Rowan County Schools and attended Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard L Correll and Minnie Storey Correll, a brother Eugene, and the late Joel Lucas. She worked as a nurse for a total of 55 years. She was employed with Rowan Regional Medical Center for 24 years and retired in 2008. She was a...

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Correll Lucas, 84 of Salisbury, passed away on July 27, 2017 at Novant Rowan Health Medical Center. Born April 6, 1933 in Rowan County she was educated in the Rowan County Schools and attended Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard L Correll and Minnie Storey Correll, a brother Eugene, and the late Joel Lucas. She worked as a nurse for a total of 55 years. She was employed with Rowan Regional Medical Center for 24 years and retired in 2008. She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was active in many programs over the years including in charge of prayer chain and card ministry until May 2017.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Edward Lucas (Angela), Johnny Dale Lucas (Jeana), Grady Richard Lucas (Kim) and Beverly Black (Jim). Also surviving is her sister Mary Barnhardt, grandchildren Jamie, Brian, Torie, Justin and Courtney as well as great grandchildren Nick, Jayden, Alivia, Leelin and Kendall. Special friends and neighbors are Bill/Keisha Bryan, Jayda Trayah, Tom/Jean Ludwick and many others. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Autumn Care and Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church in Salisbury from 11:00 til 12:00 noon, with memorial service following at 12 :00 noon also at the church with Rev. Robin Albright, minister. Memorials may be sent to Southside Baptist Church 500 Morlan Park Rd. Salisbury, NC 28146 or the charity of your choice.
