Mrs. Eloise Deal Teeter, 85, of China Grove passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at her home in the presence of loved ones. Born on January 12, 1932 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Virginia Morton Deal. A 1949 graduate of China Grove High School, she also attended Salisbury Business College.
Mrs. Teeter was an active member and loved her church, First United Methodist, in China Grove. She was a faithful Christian who exemplified Martha's hands and Mary's heart. She had a love for family, friends, and service...

Mrs. Eloise Deal Teeter, 85, of China Grove passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at her home in the presence of loved ones. Born on January 12, 1932 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Virginia Morton Deal. A 1949 graduate of China Grove High School, she also attended Salisbury Business College.
Mrs. Teeter was an active member and loved her church, First United Methodist, in China Grove. She was a faithful Christian who exemplified Martha's hands and Mary's heart. She had a love for family, friends, and service to others. She served on various committees at First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wesleyan Friendship Circle. She received The Cross and Flame Award from First United Methodist Church, and The Torch Award for scouting from the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout service leader of the Hornets' Nest Council from 1963-1985. She received the Appreciation Award from the Hornets' Nest Council in 1979 and served on the Hornets' Nest Council's Board of Directors from 1983-1988. Mrs. Teeter was an active teacher assistant, who also served as President of the Rowan County Association of Teacher Assistants from 1985-1987 and as President of the North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants from 1989-1991. In 1991, she received the North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants' Distinguished Service Award.
She retired from the US Post Office in 1977 and retired from China Grove Elementary school of Rowan-Salisbury school system as a Teacher Assistant in 1993. She was an avid traveler, bridge player, lover of crafts and golfer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Richard "Red" Teeter; an infant son, James Richard Teeter, Jr.; and her brother, Larry Deal. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Sharon Basinger (Randy) and Susan Jones (Larry); son Ken Teeter (Tracy); brother, Jerry Deal (Joyce); and sister-in-law, Diane Deal. And her beloved grandchildren, Jamey Basinger (Heather), Amy Basinger, Robby Basinger (Debra), Aaron Jones, Emily Teeter, James Teeter and Hannah Jones. Her great grandchildren who brought her daily blessings are Ayden Basinger, Sawyer Basinger, Layla Basinger, Maggie Basinger, Finnley Basinger, and Carlee Basinger. Also surviving her are many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express special appreciation and thank you to the tender loving care given to her by caregivers Debra Basinger, Elaine Metcalf, and Sharon Carson.
Visitation will be on Sunday Oct. 1, 2017 from 3:00-4:00 pm in Langford Hall at First United Methodist Church in China Grove, with funeral to follow in the sanctuary at 4:00 pm with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 110 West Church Street, China Grove, North Carolina, 28023.
